How Long Is My NoE/Module Certificate Valid For?
Yacht OOW, Master & SV Engineer course completion and pass certificates are valid for 3 years from the date of issue. (The Master Celestial Navigation certificate is valid for 1 year. SV General Science I/II certificates do not expire.)
An unused NoE is valid for 5 years from date of issue, and for 3 years after a successful oral exam.
You must apply for your NoE and book your oral exam with enough time, as once your modules expire, you will have to take them again.
If your Deck module pass certificate expires, you will need to retake the course and exam.
If your SV Engineer module pass certificate expires, you do not need to retake the course prior to retaking the exam, but we strongly recommend that you do, in order to increase your chances of passing the exam.
The MCA will only issue a CoC if every pass certificate is in date. Having an NoE that was issued when all of your certificates in date does not exempt you from this rule.
