Small Vessel Auxiliary Equipment I

From January 2018 JPMA will be offering this course in place of the Y4 Auxiliary Equipment course.

The SV Auxiliary Equipment I course is required to obtain the new Small Vessel Second Engineer <9000kW/<3000gt CoC. It is a five day course certificated by examination, covering:

  • Valves
  • Pumps
  • Compressed Air Systems
  • Hydraulic & Pneumatic Control Principles
  • Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (AC) Plant
  • Steering Gears
  • Propulsion
  • Transmission & Shaft Arrangement
  • Electrical Plant

Due to the large amount of material to be learnt, a substantial amount of pre-course study is required, and candidates are advised to spend at least 6 weeks working on the course material supplied when enrolling onto the course.

This course can be used towards both the Y4 and SV 2nd Engineer CoCs, as per MIN 524 and MIN 552.

Current Course Fee: £915.00 (From 1st September 2018 – £975.00)

+ current SQA exam fee: £185.00

It should be noted that written exam pass certificates have a validity of only three years. If your module pass certificates are more than 3 years old when you apply for an NoE or pass your oral exam you will have to submit new pass certificates to the MCA before they will issue an NoE or CoC. This excludes Y2 General Engineering Science I & II.
